The tale of Kris Kelli's discovery can be likened to a Disney movie. An avid karaoke singer, Kelli's fate changed one Friday night in Kingston, Jamaica following the performance of a Nelly Furtado song. From 2004 to 2006 Kris Kelli honed her skills on the mic and developed her own unique style and flair. In early 2006 the time had come for Kris Kelli to focus on her album. She spent months writing, recording and working with a number of top producers in Jamaica, to develope her "My World" album. The album boasts 15 tracks including two collaborations with Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel. The album represents various genres of Reggae music and also captures the essence, journey and versatility of the artiste. The year 2007 started off with a bang for Kris Kelli with two videos being shot in the first quarter for "STEP UP" which was the lead single on her album and "We're Missing You" (The Tribute) that was recorded after the album was released. 2007 also saw the formation of Kris Kelli's interactive website www.kriskellimusic.com and her very own independent label, Double K Records. Her video "We're missing you" was on the MTV's Tempo Cross Caribbean Countdown Top 10 Video chart for 13 weeks and peaked at the 2 position for 5 weeks, it has also been nominated by The Reggae Academy Awards with 3 other videos for the Best Video for 2007 in the Reggae category. Kris Kelli closed out the year with her sweetest video yet "Sweet Intro" and was dubbed the "Glamazon" by All Woman magazine, naming her one of the top 25 people to watch in 2008.
