“Lyrically Dangerous, It’s the Kid with the lyrical flow, so we ah do it!!! Look Out – Fucha Kid” Karl Edwards aka Fucha Kid is a quiet and friendly individual, whose love for music took him from writing in his bedroom and singing among friends to performing on stage and being played on the radio. A childish dream now turn reality is the story of many upcoming artists and so is the story of Fucha Kid. He was born in Boxton, Guyana but spend his youth in Antigua. At the age of 7 he performed for the first time while attending Cobbs Cross Primary School. Since then he developed a passion for music which continued to grow to this day. As a teenager he performed R&B and Reggae love songs to entertain his audience during his performances. While attending All Saints Secondary School he wrote “We are the Leaders of All Saints School” for the youth leaders group. The song received a 2nd place award in the regional competition. In 2000, Fucha’s cousin Naycha Kid joined him in Antigua where they would do joint performances through the Island and other regions in the Caribbean. At the time Fucha Kid performed under his birth name Karl, but once he started performing with his cousin he adopted his current stage name. In 2004, Fucha Kid join the Chosen Sounds Family, he always refer to them as “The Best Studio” in Antigua because no one can mix his songs the way he likes it like they do. It was with Chosen Sound he recorded his first Reggae song “Legalize It” which became his first hit song. In 2005 he recorded his second single “A Real Man” with Alicia Roberts (Miss Teen Splash 2006). In that same year he went on his first regional tour at the Gem Family Rave in St. Kitts and then later traveled to Trinidad, Barbados, Grenada, Montserrat and other Islands. In 2006 he won the honors of being the first “Rage in t he Cage” winner to be aired every Friday afternoon on Vybz Fm in Antigua. Later that year Fucha decided to experiment with another genre of West Indian music solely “Soca”. He recorded Move, Carnival Time and Sexy Body Girls then entered the Soca Monarch Competition for the first time. He made it up to the Semi-finals with his hit track “Move”. Fucha credits his music to legendary Reggae Artists Luciano and Culture. He once said he appreciate them and their music especially how it mould him into the Artists he is today. Also he gives credit to his mother Denise Edwards and his cousin Naycha Kid for being his biggest inspirations. Fucha’s music has been spreading locally and throughout the Caribbean. He wants to become Antigua’s greatest Artists/Entertainer in the future and with is continuous hard work, new and improved songs, staying positive, the dream will prevail and he will prove that never giving up is the key to many successful surviving Artists of our time.
